This was a fun job with a great team from Bensimon Byrne. The goal was to create a dynamic character-driven animation of robotic arms working away making Highball Collective drinks. After a hard day's work they enjoy a drink and a round of ping pong. Making this a full CG spot we were able to put the robots in any situation and go to town with the lighting of the sets and the animation of the liquid and robots themselves.

Robots = good times :)

		<description>I had the opportunity to help develop the background menu animations for the new game The Darkness 2 developed by Digital Extremes in London, ON. Our idea was to show the Darkness creature in a state "calm before the storm" to let the players see an up close, almost intimate moment with the creature. The challenge was to keep the macro photographic tone, but take it to the more toon shaded look of the game.

		<description>Working for the band Rush is always great. They like art and music together and do crazy live shows with large scale sets and projections. I was asked to make a steam punk watch tower for the intermission animation,and help on some set extensions for the short film that played after. All around good times! Modelling was done with 3ds Max,XSI and rendered in Vray. CG renders and plates where put together in Nuke.

		<description>I was asked to do this animation for the NHL playoffs to promote the trading cards found in select beer cases. Just a quick simple animation of a carousel of cards that was rendered with Vray.
An interesting note: I used the VRayDistanceTex to procedurally displace the snow, knowing very well that the box placement and sizes would change during the production.

Our friends at Quizitive asked us to help create a world that would tell the story about the exacting standards of purity that goes into each bottle of Jamieson Vitamins. A mix of CG animation, Stock footage and Matte painting, Township designed and crafted a number of beautiful locations that set the scene for the narrative.

Self-initiated PSA for Japanese Relief Aid.

On March 11th, a magnitude 8.9 earthquake and subsequent Tsunami and nuclear reactor leaks left Japan devastated. While much has been done to give relief and help to the people of Japan the real work is just beginning. Sometimes we forget that just because an event like this isn't on the front page anymore, the struggle to save and rebuilt lives has passed. IAMSTATIC wanted to create something that can act as a reminder that this disaster is still happening and not a memory.

PRODUCTION BREAKDOWN
The main simulation of the Japan sphere exploding was achieved by shooting through fractured rigid bodies to create the main debris. Particles were then spawned from the larger chunks to throw tiny shards.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/36835/1391567/Esplosio_02.jpg" width="670" height="467" width_o="800" height_o="558" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/36835/1391567/Esplosio_02_o.jpg" data-mid="6911676"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/36835/1391567/Production_Shots_02_v2.jpg" width="670" height="318" width_o="799" height_o="380" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/36835/1391567/Production_Shots_02_v2_o.jpg" data-mid="6781871"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

MATERIAL SEPERATION
One thing we wanted to do was keep the the overall look graphic with control over different surfaces. Using mattes to break apart the inner and outer core gave specific areas for adding detail in post

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/36835/1391567/Production_Shots_03_v2.jpg" width="670" height="318" width_o="799" height_o="380" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/36835/1391567/Production_Shots_03_v2_o.jpg" data-mid="6781872"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

PARTICAL STREAMS
The Biggest thing to get right, as it was used in most of the shots, was the debris of particles that was blowing off the surfaces. The goal was to have a very organic motion that resembled pieces being pulled/striped away. The solution was to spawn particle seeds that spew debris out for short periods of time with varying sizes. This technique was also used in the end reactor shot as well as the Red Cross logo reforming at the end. The great thing of this Particle Flow system was that it could be integrated into any scene based on where I needed it to spawn.
